I was pretty happy this day, getting my picture taken by an amazing photographer in front of the California State Capital.      photo credit Jill Carmel

Alexis Scandalis Genung

Alexis Genung has both passion and talent in pursuit of her chosen field, that of fine art painting. While many of her canvases reflect her Greek heritage, she is also capable of capturing a moment in time of a still life,  the pastoral serenity of a landscape or the expressionist image of a surprised woman.

Educated at the University of Davis, California as well as California State University Sacramento, she has also studied under Sacramento's internationally known master oil painter, Gary Pruner. Her art has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout California and her work can be found in the personal collections of serious art collectors, including such high profile luminaries as actors Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks.

In addition to her original paintings in watercolor and oil, Alexis has also made many of her popular works available in Giclée prints.

The Giclée (pronounced zhee-clay) print process used by Alexis Genung Studios is a specialized printing method wherein highest quality pigmented inks are finely sprayed onto canvas or watercolor paper to create limited editions which preserve the brilliance and hues of the original work. Often, even the artist has trouble telling which is the original and which is the print! These can usually be purchased for a small fraction of the cost of acquiring the original piece on which it is based.
