When I was a new artist just starting out I saw this quote in an exhibit of Henri Matisse in the

Norton Simon Museum.  It impressed me so, and I share it with you now.   ....Alexis

What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity, devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter, an art which could be for every mental worker, for the businessman as well as the man of letters, for example, a soothing, calming influence on the mind, something like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.

Showing at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Annual Festival in Sacramento.

Growing up in faraway lands, England, Greece and the shores of Tripoli, a child's paradise  among the Floridian tropical birds and flowers, the sometimes lonely majesty and endless space of Texas, between two rivers, the Sierra Nevada and the California Coast, I was surrounded by a very art influenced culture. I lived in my imagination in a town full of bright, vivacious hues skimming with coastlines of intriguing palettes. Vibrant shades of blue and white came together in harmony that seemed to dance among the scenic memories of my own creation. Here I felt inspired.
